A total of four turbocharged petrol engines (TSI), two turbocharged diesel engines (TDI) and one plug-in hybrid drive (eHybrid) will be available for the Arteon and Arteon Shooting Brake. The TSIs generate 110 kW (150 PS)1, 140 kW (190 PS)1 and 206 kW (280 PS)1 as well as 235 kW (320 PS) in the case of the R-TSI. The eHybrid also features a TSI. It develops 115 kW (156 PS) and is augmented by an electric motor with an output of 85 kW (115 PS). The TDI will be available with 110 kW (150 PS)1 and 147 kW (200 PS)1. All engines are characterised by high levels of efficiency, low emissions and powerful torque.

For the first time, the Arteon can also be configured with new LED daytime running lights whose LED strips cannot only be integrated underneath the standard LED headlights but also, optionally, in the centre of the radiator grille – light as the new chrome. Consequently, the Arteon has been given a new and unmistakeable daytime and night-time lighting signature. The LED tail light clusters were also newly developed.

Open the Arteon Shooting Brake’s striking boot lid and benefit from up to 565 litres of boot capacity if you load the boot up to the rear seat backrest and luggage compartment cover (fastback: 563 litres). Loading the vehicle up to the roof and to the front seat backrests will increase the loading capacity to 1,632 litres (fastback: 1,557 litres). In both cases, the storage space is 2,092 mm long (up to the front seats).

On the inside the product line has been equipped with a redesigned, exclusive cockpit environment that has been adapted to the Arteon’s charisma and exclusive character. Operation has been made easier through touchsliders for the automatic air conditioner and a new multifunction steering wheel with touch controls. Also new: the now wireless integration of apps via “App-Connect Wireless” for “Apple CarPlay” and “Android Auto” (Google), and a powerful 700 watt high-end sound system from the audio specialists harman/kardon, which has been customised specifically for the Arteon and Arteon Shooting Brake (both optional). Background lighting that can be adjusted in up to 30 colours is also optionally available to give the new interior an attractive finishing touch. Here, the trims in the dash panel and doors are illuminated – light as the “new chrome”.

The product line is based on the modular transverse matrix (MQB). This brings together numerous benefits, such as a very long wheelbase of 2,840 mm – resulting in a particularly good utilisation of space. Both body versions are the same length (4,866 mm). Moreover, the two Arteon models share the same width (1,871 mm without exterior mirrors) and tracks (1,587 mm at the front and rear). Due to its design, at 1,447 mm the Shooting Brake stands 19 mm higher than the Gran Turismo (1,428 mm):

The bonnet stretches across the entire front profile to the wheel arches to form the shoulder section. At the front it reaches far down into the radiator grille, which emphasises the ample width of the Arteon with its crossbars. It’s not just avant-garde, it’s also aerodynamic – with a drag coefficient of a mere 0.265. What’s more, chrome and light form a new alliance in the Arteon: the two top crossbars surround the new, smooth VW badge in the centre and the standard LED headlights, which have been positioned low down, towards the outside. The lower of the two crossbars features LED fibre optic cables on the outside. They form the daytime running lights and side marker light, as well as the turn signal in the case of the optional LED top headlights. The lighting elements, radiator grille and bonnet merge to a form a single unit. This applies all the more to the Arteon Update and the Arteon Shooting Brake now being presented since the LED fibre optic cables – in conjunction with the LED headlights of the top version – now illuminate the entire second crossbar of the radiator grille (optional: R model series). This sets the Arteon apart from the crowd, even at night.
