The dictionary defines “child-friendly” as “having a positive attitude towards children, being favourably disposed towards them” and “being beneficial for children”. Both apply to the GLB, because it makes the life of families easier with many practical and safety-relevant details. A few examples.
Parent taxi: Up to four child seats can be installed in the second and third seat row of the seven-seater using the ISOFIX and TOP-Tether attachment points. Hence enough space also for the big family – or the kids’ best friends when everyone is headed to baby swimming, the amusement park or the zoo together. The EASY-ENTRY function facilitates access to the very rear.
Open Sesame: The infant carrier in one hand, the shopping basket in the other – parents are often completely loaded down. The optional KEYLESS-Go Convenience Package with HANDS FREE ACCESS enables fully automatic opening and closing of the liftgate. All it takes is a kicking motion of the foot in the area of the sensor in the rear bumper.
Organisation is half the battle: Comforter, favourite book, art materials – when you travel with children, half the household goods often have to be taken along. Numerous practical stowage facilities ensure neat organisation in the GLB. They include compartments in the beltline, in the boot trim on the left and right side (available in the optional Load Compartment Package), bag hooks in the beltline trim on the left and right side, two coat hooks at the underside of the liftgate as well as the two-stage height-adjustable load compartment floor.
Port found: The GLB has USB-C ports in the impromptu stowage facility at the front, in the armrest between the front seats as well as in the rear of the centre console for the rear passengers. These ports can be used to connect media storage devices to the MBUX infotainment system, thereby allowing listening to the favourite music or audio play. In conjunction with the third seat row, there are additional USB ports in the rear for charging mobile devices. In addition, a 12V socket is installed in the centre console at the front, on the back of the centre console is a 230V socket. This makes it possible to heat up a small jar of baby food or to connect a bottle warmer (possibly with the appropriate adapter), for example, during a break in the journey. Another 12V socket in the load compartment is optionally available.
App-driven: When the children are already older and have a driving licence, they like to borrow the car. The GLB is ready for private car sharing with friends and family members. Operation is simple and secure using the Mercedes me Car Sharing app from Mercedes-Benz. The parents can also get notified when the GLB leaves a previously defined radius or exceeds a certain speed (not available in all markets).
Great climate: When babies travel in the car on hot summer days, the parents should ensure the right climate in the vehicle. This is particularly easy to do in the GLB, because it comes with the single-zone THERMATIC automatic climate control as standard. The optional THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control adds another separately controlled zone.
