The facelifted Peugeot 3008 crossover, available to order in the UK now with prices starting from £27,160 for the entry-level Active Premium model, climbing to £47,430 for the flagship GT Premium variant. First deliveries are expected to arrive early next year.
The new-look Peugeot 3008 range is split into six trim-levels. There’s the firm’s familiar Active, Allure and GT specifications, each of which can be equipped with an intermediate “Premium” option package. However, UK buyers won’t be offered the entry-level Active variant, with our line-up opening with the Active Premium variant.
The Active Premium model comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless start, dual-zone air conditioning, front and rear parking sensors, electrically folding door mirrors and an eight-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Peugeot 3008 Allure starts at £28,760 and adds 18-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, unique fabric upholstery and new 10-inch infotainment screen with a connected sat-nav system. The Allure Premium model costs an extra £700 and adds keyless entry, aluminium roof rails, a folding passenger seat and an ambient interior lighting package.
Prices for GT model start at £31,260. Upgrades over the Allure Premium variant includes LED headlights, a contrasting black roof and adaptive cruise control. The seats are also trimmed in Alcantara and leather upholstery.
The flagship 3008 GT Premium is priced from £35,260 and features unique 19-inch alloy wheels, a hands-free tailgate, a premium Focal stereo system, a 360-degree camera and a pair of heated front seats with a massaging function.
Peugeot also offers an optional Black Pack for the GT and GT Premium models, which adds satin black badging, a dark chrome radiator grille, satin black roof rails and black 19-inch alloy wheels. There are a couple of new paint colours available, too, including Celebes Blue and Vertigo Blue.
Design and interior
The Peugeot 3008 was the family SUV which kick-started the French manufacturer’s current boom period when it was introduced in 2016 – and while this mid-cycle facelift only features minimal changes to the car’s exterior, there are significant updates to the crossover’s interior and equipment levels.
On the outside, the 3008’s chunky looks remain, but there’s a new frameless front grille, redesigned headlights that feature LED technology on even the entry-level versions, and new full-LED tail-light clusters that have smoked glass to fool the eye into thinking that the black boot lid is wider than it really is.
There are more substantial upgrades in the cabin – notably in infotainment. The 12.3-inch fully digital instrument panel – a stand-out feature on this generation of 3008 – gets a different display that shows better contrast and darker blacks, which Peugeot says has made it clearer and easier to read.
The old car’s eight-inch central touchscreen can now be upgraded for a 10-inch unit, which offers a higher resolution display and new connected services. It has seven “piano key” buttons beneath it, which gives the driver direct access to the car’s key functions. Also, there are now two USB sockets in the second row and one in the front, along with wireless smartphone charging.
Engines and drivetrains
The 3008 continues to be based on PSA Group’s EMP2 platform, which supports plug-in hybrid tech but not, as yet, fully electric vehicles. As such, the revision version of the car sticks with the same range of powertrains as before – including the two hybrid models that were introduced earlier this year.
The Hybrid4 has a starting price of £42,530. The system mixes a 1.6-litre PureTech engine producing 197bhp with a pair of electric motors for a total output of 296bhp. Peugeot claims that the Hybrid4 will have official CO2 emissions of as little as 29g/km, and will be capable of up to 40 miles of pure-electric running.
The two-wheel-drive Hybrid is slightly cheaper with an entry-price of £37,530. It shares the same petrol engine, but forgoes an electric for a total output of 222bhp, along with 30g/km of CO2 emissions and up to 39 miles of pure-electric driving.
In addition to the hybrids, there’s a 1.2-litre three-cylinder PureTech petrol producing 128bhp, a four-cylinder 1.6-litre petrol with 178bhp, and a 1.5 diesel with 128bhp. The standard transmission across most of the range is an eight-speed automatic, although the entry-level petrol is available with that unit or a six-speed manual.
