On top of that, it was designed to go very fast in a straight line and in corners, which is not usually intended for off-road vehicles. It’s also more expensive than the X5 M. But the existence of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe , Audi RS Q8 and Porsche Cayenne Coupe TurboThis means that there are a lot of people willing to shell out a lot of money for one of these specialized crossovers because they are not true SUVs with soft ride and off-road capabilities. The X6 M makes up to 617 horsepower with the added Competition Package and has the sole purpose of racing sports cars down a mountain pass. This, of course, comes at a cost. And on top of the asking price, we can add big fuel consumption and a heavy ride to the list of trade-offs.

There is no budget-friendly base model here, and with only one trim, the cost of the BMW X6 M is a simple affair. The BMW X6 M’s price starts at an MSRP of $113,700. That cost excludes tax, registration, and a destination/handling fee of $995. New owners will surely head towards the options list for some extra special configurations, and depending on how much you want to spend, the price can climb to over $130k quickly. But the BMW is not the most expensive car in this segment, as the Audi RS Q8 begins at $125,800.

The X6 M’s performance specs read like a supercar summary and include xDrive all-wheel drive, M Professional adaptive suspension with roll stabilization and rear axle air suspension, plus everything that’s been tuned by M, all crammed into a coupe-style SUV body. Add to that a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 600 horsepower. recipe for a 5375 lb cannonball. Stopping and steering such a behemoth requires some effort, and here the M engineers have succeeded, setting up all the equipment in such a way that the X6 M remains nailed to the pavement at incredible speed. Feedback from the steering wheel is not great, but nevertheless, the rude can be accurately placed,and it can be thrown around corners at unlikely speeds, turning smoothly and effectively dumping momentum with variable feedback brakes. The price you pay is that the X6 M is only comfortable on billiard-smooth roads, and hard riding soon becomes tiresome on rough roads. Given all the suspension technology, it’s a pity the M division doesn’t provide a more comfortable setup.
Verdict: Is the 2023 BMW X6 MA a Good SUV?
If your main goal is to get around the track as fast as possible, the X6 M is a great SUV. It’s in a league of other incredibly fast competitors like the Cayenne Turbo Coupe, GLE 63 S Coupe, and RS Q8, but it’s cheaper than all of them, which is why we’re actually stating that $114,000 is a good deal. Even with the full Competition package, it’s still $15,000 cheaper than the Cayenne Turbo. That being said, fuel economy is truly terrible, and a quick review of the BMW X6 M’s competitors reveals that its EPA numbers are the worst of the lot, adding more inconvenience to those road trips due to frequent gas stations.For regular SUVs that must include occasional forays into rough roads, its heavy ride soon becomes unbearable too, and here the much more compliant X6 M50i makes a lot more sense.
