2024 Mercedes-AMG C 63 S.. 2024 Mercedes-AMG C 63 S. The range of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is now complete with the addition of the formidable Mercedes-AMG C 63 SE Performance 2024, which sits well above the C 300 and AMG C 43 versions in terms of power and sportiness.
A four-cylinder hybrid instead of the V8
The outgoing generation made its mark with a mighty 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 making up to 503 horsepower, but it’s a whole different powertrain that powers the C 63 S this time around. As the name «E Performance» that accompanies it indicates, electrification is invited into the equation.
A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, different from the one found in the regular C-Class and the most powerful on the planet (469 horsepower), teams up with a rear electric motor and a 6, 1 kWh. Together, they generate no less than 561 horsepower – or 671 horsepower for 10 seconds when the Overboost function is activated – along with a maximum torque of 752 lb-ft.
A more sophisticated 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system distributes power to all four wheels, and 0-100 km/h acceleration is achieved in just 3.4 seconds – half a second quicker than the 503-hp BMW M3 Competition .
By the way, the electric turbocharger is assisted by a 48-volt motor to increase response and reduce lag. As for the battery, it only provides a range of 13 kilometers according to Mercedes.
Design Mercedes-AMG C 63 SE Performance 2024.
In terms of design, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG C 63 SE Performance stands out discreetly from the C 43. We note reworked air intakes at the bottom of the front bumper, small hatches on the front fenders with a » Turbo E Performance», exclusive 19 or 20-inch wheels as well as a more pronounced rear spoiler and diffuser. The four exhaust tips here are trapezoidal in shape and not circular.
The interior hardly changes: sports seats with contrasting inserts and stitching, sports steering wheel incorporating the driving mode selection wheel, 11.9-inch vertical touch screen and 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. The latter, however, offers displays specific to the most powerful version. Of course, navigation with augmented reality, head-up display and AMG track data recorder are available.
The 2024 Mercedes-AMG C 63 SE Performance is expected to hit the Canadian market next year and pricing will be announced shortly before. For information, the old one sold from $89,700 in four-door sedan format, but expect a significant increase.
