2024 Skoda Kodiaq SUV – Exterior and Interior Details. The all-new Skoda Kodiaq is here, and this family SUV has been given all-new styling inside and out. This alternative to the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe also features plenty of all-new technology.
This is the first Kodiaq to be offered as a plug-in hybrid as well, and it’ll do up to 62 miles on electric power alone. You can expect to see this new car hit the showrooms in mid 2024.
Design
The New Skoda Kodiaq has been teased a few times already, so we already had a pretty good idea of what it would look like. The covers have been fully pulled off now though, so you can finally see the new design in all its glory.
If you look at this new car from the front, it doesn’t appear to be radically different ot the outgoing model. You still have a split headlight design, and they’re LED as standard. The lamps themselves are slightly sleeker than before though, and the grille is a bit wider and more imposing. For a bit of added bling, certain models also get an LED strip running through the grille.
Looking down the side, this new Kodiaq has a very similar boxy silhouette to the current car. It is around six centimetres longer than before though, which should aid interior space and help boost Skoda’s reputation for cavernous practicality. Alloy wheels start at 17-inches, rising to 20s on higher-spec models.
It’s at the rear of the car where you’ll see the biggest change, with an all-new wraparound tail light design featuring a full-width light bar across the boot. All cars also get a neat roof spoiler for some added sporty flavour, and the Skoda logo has been ditched in favour of the brand name spelled out across the tailgate.
Interior and infotainment
The cabin of the all-new Skoda Kodiaq was revealed a few weeks ago, and it’s a radical departure from the outgoing car’s featuring plenty of new technology.
You’ll be pleased to see that this new car still has physical knobs for the climate control. The three dials all have a small display on them, and they can be used to control all your climate control settings, as well as the stereo volume and heated seats. The central dial can be configured to control things like your maps as well.
The rest of the cabin is also all-new, and it centres around the 12.9-inch touchscreen. You also now get a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, as well as a head-up display. The gear selector has been moved to the steering column, freeing up space in the centre console for additional storage.
Engines
You’ll have the option of two petrol engines, two diesel engines and a plug-in hybrid version to choose from in the new Skoda Kodiaq. All are paired to an automatic transmission.
The petrol units will include a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid – a first for the Kodiaq – that develops 150hp, with the other option a 2.0-litre engine with 204hp paired to a four-wheel drive system.
For the diesels, there’s a 2.0-litre engine that’s offered with 150hp or 193hp. The most powerful version is a 4×4.
As a first for the Kodiaq, Skoda will be offering the iV plug-in hybrid setup. That includes a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, with 204hp on offer.
As a PHEV, you get a 25.7kWh battery pack that allows for more than 62 miles of pure electric driving. Unlike many other PHEVs though, the Kodiaq will have 50kW DC charging, so you can top up quickly at a public fast charger.
Production of the new Skoda Kodiaq is expected to start in the spring next year, so expect to start seeing them on UK roads by mid 2024.
As for price, expect the new Kodiaq to fetch a premium over the current car. A price tag of around £35,000 is likely.
