It seems like Toyota thought of everything with the new 2024 Tacoma. This new Toyota midsize truck brings a specialized pair of front seats in the TRD Pro trim. The new IsoDynamic Performance seats include a pair of shocks for each seat. Could these new seats offer some trail-riding benefits?
These new seats are exclusive to the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro as part of the new standard equipment package. The seats feature built-in four-way shock absorption, which should steady the trail ride.
This new off-road-focused Toyota pickup brings upgraded equipment to add desert driving to its repertoire. This puts the TRD Pro in competition with the Ford Ranger Raptor, Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, and GMC Canyon AT4X.
The IsoDynamic Performance seats adjust the movement vertically and laterally to offer the greatest seat stability on the trails while dampening body movement to keep your head and neck aligned with your spine. The shocks use an “air-over-oil” configuration and should help reduce pain felt after a full day of off-roading. Those of you over 30 know what I’m talking about.
The shocks in these new Tacoma TRD Pro seats are adjustable and mimic the air-ride seats of heavy trucks. When the seat stiffness needs adjustment, levers on the seatbacks allow each seat to be adjusted individually. This means you need a passenger along to have your seat settings changed. Otherwise, you’ll likely break your arm trying to reach the levers on your seat.
In a back-scratching trade-off between you and your passenger, each can reach behind the other’s seat and turn the knobs to adjust each shock individually.
The shocks on the rear of the seats appear to double the girth of each seatback. These shocks cut into the rear-seat legroom dramatically. This means the new 2024 Tacoma might be a two-seater instead of a crew cab with room for four. Of course, when you don’t have passengers in the rear seats, you can fill this area with cargo that you don’t want to be exposed to the elements.
