Bentley took advantage of the famous Monterey Car Week to present a new top-of-the-range model: the Mulliner Batur coupe. It foreshadows the design of the brand’s future electric models.
The most visible change is obviously the front part, and the disappearance of the round headlights. The optics retained by Bentley on the Batur coupé are thinner and more slender than in the past. The grille is also different, while the rear part is clearly different from that of a Continental GT for example.
In the passenger compartment, luxury and refinement are obviously at the rendezvous, with an almost infinite possibility of personalization. Customers can choose different types of leathers, as well as Dinamica upholstery, an imitation of suede, but does not use real animal skin. Bentley also offers handcrafted inserts made of titanium, and even replacing the carbon fiber with a composite made of more durable natural fibres. In the same vein, the floor mats use recycled yarn, a first for the manufacturer. And for the most demanding customers, it is even possible to opt for 3D printed elements made with 18 carat gold.

Under the hood is the most powerful engine ever fitted in a Bentley: a turbocharged 6-liter W12 that develops 730 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration figures have not been announced, but with such impressive values, it is likely that the Batur coupe will be able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in around 3.5 seconds.
To contain the spirit of this high-powered engine, Bentley has also added an active roll management system and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. The maneuverability of this luxury coupé is also improved thanks to the use of four-wheel steering.
Available in a limited run of just 18 examples, the Mulliner Batur Coupe retails for a stratospheric price of £1.65 million, which works out to C$2.53 million at the time of this writing. According to Bentley, production is expected to begin in mid-2023 after an intensive testing program.
