New 2023 Honda CR-V (Euro spec) Full Details / New-generation CR-V SUV. Honda’s sixth-generation CR-V SUV has made its debut for Europe, gaining a plug-in hybrid powertrain for the first time plus latest driver assistance tech.
Revealed alongside the brand’s new ZR-V hybrid crossover and the fully electric e:Ny1, the all-new CR-V will be offered with a choice of either a full hybrid (e:HEV) or, for the first time in the European market, the e:PHEV powertrain. Both use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder direct injection Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, revised to enhance efficiency, refinement, and dynamic performance across the range.
The e:HEV is based on the fully hybrid powertrain seen in the Civic and using a lithium-ion battery and two compact, lightweight electric motors combined with the petrol engine to deliver EV, Hybrid and Engine Drive modes.
The new e:PHEV will use the same motors as the full hybrid but with a larger 17.7kWh battery that enables it to travel 51 miles (82km) in electric mode. This potentially puts it in the 8% Benefit-in-Kind bracket for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 tax years. It’s able to be fully charged in as little as 2.5 hours depending on battery temperature.
Design retains the existing CR-V side profile, but gains bolder styling at the front including new signature daytime running lights and bespoke grille designs to mark out the different powertrains. It’s also been designed for good outward visibility for all occupants.
The new CR-V is also larger in all dimensions while the 40mm longer wheelbase gives 16mm more rear legroom, and 118% more luggage capacity. Rear seats have eight levels of adjustment for the recline.
Honda Sensing driver assistance systems have been updated and the CR-V becomes the brand’s first model to include its Sensing 360 omnidirectional safety and driver assist system, which works to remove blind spots around the vehicle. According to the company, the new model delivers class-leading active and passive safety levels.

Sales of the new Honda CR-V start this autumn.
