Though you might not have seen one in a while, the Maserati Quattroporte, in its current form, has been around for 10 years. Available in rear- or all-wheel drive and with three different engines, including a Ferrari-based twin-turbo V8, the Quattroporte wraps a considerable amount of performance in traditional Italian style and luxury. Unchanged for 2023, the Maserati remains one of the most exclusive sport sedans on the market.

Even in its base trim, the Quattroporte proves to be an enjoyable drive down a good road. At its peak, the Trofeo model cranks out a scintillating 580 horsepower and holds its own against some of the best German sport sedans. But the Quattroporte starts to show its age when it comes to newer rivals. The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe and Mercedes-Benz AMG GT sedan, for example, both have the performance to match the big Maserati and are outfitted with more impressive infotainment technology and advanced driver aids. And while the Porsche Panamera doesn’t quite have the panache of the Maserati, its driving dynamics are beyond reproach.

For buyers who place a high value on individuality and exclusivity, the Maserati Quattroporte could be worth a look. Otherwise, the aforementioned rivals will likely be better choices for your next performance-oriented luxury sedan.
