New 2023 Nissan Versa ( Overview ). HIGHS
– Impressive highway fuel economy, comfortable ride, sub-$20K price.
LOWS
– Lackadaisical acceleration, smaller back seat than competitors, base model’s spartan cabin.
VERDICT
– The updated Versa remains a cheap, well-appointed subcompact sedan packing a surprising number of driver-assistance features.

The Nissan Versa is a well-built small sedan, with plenty of space inside and enough standard technology and safety features to easily justify its price. High fuel economy is another bonus. The Versa’s slow acceleration is a bummer, but overall the Versa is a smart pick for an affordable small sedan.

– Pros
Several safety features come standard
Generous cargo capacity
Impressive fuel economy
User-friendly infotainment system
– Cons
Sluggish acceleration
Not much interior storage for small items
– What’s new
No changes expected for the 2023 Nissan Versa
Part of the third Versa generation introduced for 2020

The Nissan Versa was redesigned three years ago, and by most automaker timetables, this would be an opportune time for a few fresh ideas. But we don’t expect any changes for this year’s Versa, as Nissan seemingly has its hands full with the latest reboot of its Z series car, as well as the new Ariya EV crossover. The Leaf EV and Altima midsize sedan are also getting some new looks.
