New 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan – Is the interior design better than Before?. After a rather long wait, Volkswagen has finally pulled the wraps off the . Replacing the old one, which came out in 2016, the all-new iteration brings a new design on the outside, a fresh cockpit layout with new gear, chassis enhancements, and a variety of powertrains, including gasoline, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid units.
In the design department, the 2024 VW Tiguan kind of looks like an ID electric vehicle – up front, anyway. It has new sweptback headlamps with LED tech, a light strip linking them together, and a tiny upper grille. The actual grille that feeds air to the engine was moved further down and is flanked by the vertical air curtains.
Sharper edges compared to its predecessor are visible all around, including at the sides, where it features new lines on the doors and a roofline that is a bit more arched behind the central pillars, although not by much. The rear end retains the full-width reflectors, joined by a light strip going from one taillight to the other. These have a slimmer design and are still separated by the VW logo. The Tiguan emblem was moved below the license plate, and the 4Motion badge on vehicles equipped with the all-wheel drive system sits next to it, on the right side.
Inside, the dashboard panel has become chunkier. The compact crossover features a new tablet-like infotainment system measuring up to 15 inches in diameter on the range-topping flavors, a new digital instrument cluster with anti-reflective coating, and a new head-up display. Sporting its own tiny screen is the rotary control that can be used for different functions, like adjusting the ambient lighting color, turning the volume of the audio up or down, or controlling the driver profile. Voice assistance is on deck, allowing those sitting behind the new steering wheel to control other aspects of the vehicle.
Beneath the skin sits the MQB Evo platform, which underpins a wide variety of cars from Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Skoda, and Cupra, like the new Passat, Audi A3, Leon, Octavia, and Formentor, and also the Ford Tourneo Connect. The German automaker mentions the revamped adaptive chassis control with the optional DCC Pro featuring two-valve shock absorbers and the Vehicle Dynamics Manager that debuted on the Golf GTI hot hatch. The new-gen Tiguan offers improved handling and is more agile and stable compared to the iteration it replaces, VW says.
With the new construction being highly versatile, the 2024 Tiguan will launch with various powertrain options that vary depending on where it is sold. The car marque based in Wolfsburg hasn’t detailed the assemblies yet, but they have confirmed that it will be available with turbocharged gasoline units, a turbodiesel, several mild hybrids, and plug-in hybrids. Supporting DC charging, the most frugal PHEV will offer a targeted electric range of around 62 miles (100 km), according to the company.
Full details about the all-new Tiguan will be released in due course, and it is scheduled to arrive at dealers overseas in the first quarter of 2024. It is also worth noting that, according to Volkswagen, the pictured Tiguans are pre-production models. The vehicle will face stiff competition from multiple brands, as it targets the Ford Kuga, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Nissan Qashqai, Renault Austral, and others. It’s been reported that it won’t launch in North America, where we might get China’s second-gen Tayron, which should be due by 2025.
