The 2022 Lexus LX – Interior, Exterior and Driving / Awesome Luxury SUV. The 2022 Lexus LX is a heavyweight luxury SUV packing all the luxury features to accommodate big families backed by the long-life Japanese manufacturing philosophy known as Kaizen. The 2022 Lexus LX comes in five trims and a single-engine option – a twin-turbo 3.5-Liter V6, producing 409 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque which will be more than plenty to cruise a luxury 7-seater.

Across the five available trims, the LX 600 Ultra Luxury is the maxed-out variant, priced at $127,345. The rest of the lineup can be optioned as the LX 600, LX 600 Premium, LX 600 F Sport, and LX 600 Luxury. Let’s find out more about the 2022 Lexus LX.

The 2022 Lexus LX packs some of the best interior materials – this time with a great focus on the rear passengers, offering a VIP experience thanks to a maximum leg space of 43 inches and a built-in footrest behind the front passenger seat. The latter has a reclining angle of up to 48 degrees. This however only comes with the Lexus LX 600 Ultra Luxury – so we will keep a more balanced approach to the LX. The LX600 Ultra Luxury only comes as a four-seater, and it gets heated, ventilated, and massaging rear seats, which will come in very handy for the executive class.

Standard with the LX comes a tech-filled dashboard with 3 digital displays – an 8.0-inch gauge cluster screen, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a 7.0-inch climate control screen. In addition, the infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and plenty of USB ports. We like how Lexus is still keeping physical buttons for basic infotainment controls. The center console makes up a decent amount of space – here busy moms get a lot of storage space as well as a nicely padded armrest.

How about the third-row seat? The Lexus LX is still using the same wheelbase since release – 112 inches, which does make up for decent legroom on the third-row-seats if seating a toddler. As shown by Raiti’s Rides a 6 feet tall adult will struggle on the third row, but that’s to be expected. The good news is the third-row-seats also get a touch of tech with USB ports, AC vents, and cup holder storage. With the third-row-seats up in the 2022 Lexus LX trunk area shrinks to 11 cubic feet from the opposing 46 cubic feet of space.

Lexus is now using a 3.5-liter V6 engine as opposed to the V8 in the outgoing model. The V6 engine will match the performance of the outgoing V8 thanks to the latest turbocharging technology used by Lexus and a smooth 10-speed automatic transmission.

This is not the first time Lexus is bringing the V35A-FTS on board. The turbocharged V6 saw its first release back in 2017 with the Lexus LS500. Fast-forward to 2022 and the very same aluminum head and block have proved themselves noteworthy. The 2022 Lexus LX 600 does 0-60mph in 6.1-seconds, which is pretty decent in the large SUV category. According to the EPA, the LX 600 gets 17 miles per gallon in the city and 22 miles per gallon on the highway. We will surely miss the rumble of the V8, but we also have got to love the turbo noise and the better fuel mileage of the V6.

The Lexus LX makes a statement, and it looks great on the road. The front grille looks way nicer blacked out if you ask us. The rest of the exterior design adds up to a superior and stunning aesthetic. The LX sits on 22-inch wheels, which are the largest in the Lexus family.

The front-end gets aggressive L-shaped headlights, which blend really well with the big grille. Functional air vents allow greater airflow to the heat exchangers right behind them. The rear-end gets a single hatch, as opposed to the dual opening of the outgoing model. LED taillights and a redesigned Lexus badge make up the finishing touches.

The 2022 Lexus LX600 has got tough competition when it comes to large SUVs. The Escalade has been the best-in-class luxury SUV if your main concern is a roomy third-row seat. Other competitors shine and outshine the Lexus in specific points, but the ride quality is where Lexus sits ahead of the game.

The new Lexus LX is built upon a new platform, redesigning the vehicle’s entire framework from the ground up. The LX fundamentals characteristics have been revised and now feature a reduced center of gravity and weight while increasing the overall structural rigidity.

Four-link axle-type suspension with rear lateral control arms is carried over from the previous model, while the suspension arms and shock absorber layout and characteristics are refined to facilitate axle movement control, resulting in improved vehicle stability and ride comfort.
